Step Up Texas

Step Up Texas is a site that recently appeared whose aim is to field a Democratic candidate for every race in Texas. The operators include an Austin software developer who believes "success in the voting booth will be found by recruiting and running strong candidates in every race on the ballot in 2006".

It lacks some of our Williamson County candidates for the moment, but join me in helping to get these posted in the next few days.

Thanks for calling attention to the project. The website has actually been up for several months and many people have done a great job sending me county office lists (including Williamson). I just haven't had time to get those offices setup so that people can nominate, endorse and comment on potential candidates.

The 2006 election has served as a sort of 'beta' release of the software so that it can be expanded and fine-tuned for 2008 and 2010. Expect more, better features in the future.

Also, I'll soon be sharing the application with online Dem activists in other states. Hopefully, they'll have a few of these up & running before their state filing deadlines.

Again, I appreciate the promotion of the project and I hope everyone who reads this great blog will participate!
