As The Legislature Turns

Harvey Kronberg in his News 8 editorial gives us his thoughts on Why the session failed. It's the "big 3" working at cross purposes and a whole bunch of distrust in these three by the membership in both chambers.

Despite this failure on the governor's self-proclaimed "most important issue " in the session, there was a flurry of activity in both chambers today. Of course judicial/legislative retirement pay raises and the telecom bill were the early winners. The telecom bill has united several groups, which are asking the legislature to take their time and understand that, "consumers of these services deserve well-considered legislation, not 'one-day' lobby bills passed by tired, divided legislators". Hmm...take the consumers into consideration? This legislature? That's not what those lobbyists pay them to do. Here are the details on the shell game that was played today in the Senate.
